I'm teaching my kids these two things first. It would've changed everything for me. Most players work on the wrong thing their entire career. • They fix their stance • Adjust their load • Tweak their swing path The one that actually separates good from elite goes completely ignored. Your mind. Looking back, the most damaging thing in my development wasn't bad coaching or bad reps. It was the slow erosion of belief that came from a constant focus on what was wrong. A player who believes he's capable will outwork, outcompete, and outlast a more talented player who doesn't. Every time. I didn't need someone to tell me to get better. I needed someone to look me in the eye and say "You're ready. You're a dude. Go show them." I remember getting paid $1 per point and rebound in basketball. Those were my best games. 15 points and 8 rebounds. Did I have a better week of practice that week? No, my mental shifted. So when my son and daughter step into the box, I'm not leading with corrections. I'm leading with: "Go play the game and be a difference maker." The Other Half Nobody Talks About Mindset without physicality is just motivation. Eat more protein. Train harder. Look different. Play different. (and stop blaming it on genetics!) I should've TRACKED my calories. I know for sure I was not eating 4k calories per day. (Freshman year fall in college, I gained 18lb in 3-4 months. I ate ate ate) The window between 14 and 18 is one of the most powerful physical development periods of your life. Most kids waste it. If you want to stand out at 18, start training like a college player at 14. Players: ✅ Ask your coach: "What's one thing I can get better at?" ✅ Do one more set after you feel completely done ✅ Prioritize 8-10 hours of sleep ✅ Eat more protein ✅ Show up early when no one asked you to Parents: ✅ Celebrate effort over outcomes ✅ Be calm after a hard game. "I love watching you play" means everything to them ✅ Let them struggle and figure things out on their own ✅ Lead with "What went well today?" Trey P.S. Like a lot of you know, I'm always figuring out what's best for the hitter. Some need to rotate more. Some need to rotate less. For some, it depends on the week. So I built both. Like I do for every hitter I coach. Now you pick. Need to rotate more? A 90 mph fastball gets to the plate in 0.4 seconds. Josh was bringing 5 swing thoughts with him. He’s a sophomore in Remote Results. In the cage he hits like Tarzan. In games he hits like Jane. This week I posted a graphic. The average hitter carries 8 thoughts: grip, stance, hands, Dad’s tip, coach’s tip, don’t pull off, be ready, hunt your pitch. The elite hitter focuses on the last 2. (The first 6 are real. I coach every one. They just live in the cage.) Here’s the split I gave Josh. Cage:...
Here are the 20+ questions I get asked the most by hitters and parents, each one answered in a 1-2 minute video. Questions like:- 'How to Become an Elite + Consistent HItter'- 'How to Not be Front Side Dominant'- (Most viewed video) 'How to Keep Barrel High and Inside, No Drop' I sent this to my paid hitting coach group first, and many of them replied privately saying holy cow thank you. So now any time a hitter or parent asks me one of these, I just send the link to the exact video. Now you...
