"I stopped trying so hard" = MVP season

Pete Crow-Armstrong said something that should make a lot of hitters think..

In an interview weeks ago, he admitted it. Any time he struggled, he’d try to hit more.

More cage time. More swings. More effort. HARDER. MORE.

Now he’s trying to do less. Calm. Routine. Process.

That’s the part most hitters will scroll past. Because it sounds backwards.

But it’s the exact thing I’ve watched with my own guys for years.

The hardest workers don’t always get the best results.

Sometimes the guy who seems to care the least is the one who leaves the yard.

Not because the work doesn’t matter. It does. That part’s table stakes.

But because most hitters carry so much pressure into the box that the work never shows up.

He did the reps. He just dragged the weight of them up there with him.

I was that guy.

Shaking in the box. Heart racing. Not because I was scared of the pitcher.

Because I cared too much about the result.

I thought the fix was more reps.

It wasn’t. It was doing less.

Less thinking about me. More thinking about scoring runs for the team.

When your focus shifts from “me” to “we,” the pressure loses its grip.

That’s when the swing you worked your butt off for finally shows up.

So here’s the question: are you grinding to get better?

Or are you grinding just to feel busy?

Train winning. Not just volume.

I broke the whole thing down slide by slide.

When I'm training hitters, I'm always calculating one thing in my head. What's the simplest adjustment that will make the biggest impact? I tell hitters that when I'm staring into space, I'm computing.. haha. "If I say this, he'll do this." "I can't say this because he doesn't like it, or it didn't work for him." "If I say this, he'll overthink it, so I have to work around that idea." I do the calculating so you don't have to. To a certain extent though, right? There's a time and place for...

I rebuilt my Grip Strength Builder PDF Same four day program, but I redesigned the whole thing. 1. Every exercise has a picture now, so you can see what it's supposed to look like. 2. I also added a chart. What I see from good high school hitters, good college guys, and elite ones. Baseball and softball, separate numbers. Test your sqeeeeeze, see what you score and where it compares on the chart -> Get to work. PDF:...
