The simplest cue with the biggest impact

When I'm training hitters, I'm always calculating one thing in my head.

What's the simplest adjustment that will make the biggest impact?

I tell hitters that when I'm staring into space, I'm computing.. haha.

"If I say this, he'll do this."

"I can't say this because he doesn't like it, or it didn't work for him."

"If I say this, he'll overthink it, so I have to work around that idea."

I do the calculating so you don't have to.

To a certain extent though, right?

There's a time and place for the education piece.
That's how I eventually train you to be your own best coach. If I only give you the simple cue, you rely on me.

My goal is to guide you and teach you. Not for you to rely on me for everything. Learn to think for yourself because you were taught well.

So today you get both. The cue, and why it works.

The simplest cue that makes the biggest impact:

Contact point.

Contact point is simply where you make contact. Deeper, on time, or more out front.

Where you make contact can change the swing a ton. All from that one simple idea.

For most players, deeper is the cue they need and the one that works best. (I said most, not everyone.)

Here's why. MOST players leak, swing early, and get long.

The DEEPER contact point forces you to stay loaded a hair longer.

The DEEPER contact point forces you to stay back and behind the ball a hair more.

The DEEPER contact point forces you to see it a hair longer so you can make a better decision.

The DEEPER contact point forces your swing to work in a tighter window.

So many benefits.

Now think about this for the drifters and leakers.

Visualize where you're trying to make contact. You can even put a ball on the ground to SEE IT.

You won't drift or leak past it, because your mind goes...

"Well, I'm trying to hit the ball here. I can't drift or stride past this if I need to hit it. I gotta stay behind it."

Almost like it's a wall.

If you want to see the "Behind The Ball" video I use with the hitters I train, here it is. It's 3:39 long. Private video.

Pete Crow-Armstrong said something that should make a lot of hitters think.. In an interview weeks ago, he admitted it. Any time he struggled, he’d try to hit more. More cage time. More swings. More effort. HARDER. MORE. Now he’s trying to do less. Calm. Routine. Process. That’s the part most hitters will scroll past. Because it sounds backwards. But it’s the exact thing I’ve watched with my own guys for years. The hardest workers don’t always get the best results. Sometimes the guy who seems...

I rebuilt my Grip Strength Builder PDF Same four day program, but I redesigned the whole thing. 1. Every exercise has a picture now, so you can see what it's supposed to look like. 2. I also added a chart. What I see from good high school hitters, good college guys, and elite ones. Baseball and softball, separate numbers. Test your sqeeeeeze, see what you score and where it compares on the chart -> Get to work. PDF:...
