I coached the wrong thing for years

I used the average column my whole career. Coached it too. Then I created the elite column. Here's why. I studied what the best hitters actually say to themselves, and sat down with mental coaches who had already figured it out. "I'm the best hitter out here" was the one I used a lot. Then you walk into a clubhouse with a Mike Trout in it. Or a Grady Emerson. Or a Dylan Seward. Guys who are flat out better than you. Now you're lying to yourself and you know it. A coach put it to me like this....

I'm teaching my kids these two things first. It would've changed everything for me. Most players work on the wrong thing their entire career. • They fix their stance • Adjust their load • Tweak their swing path The one that actually separates good from elite goes completely ignored. Your mind. Looking back, the most damaging thing in my development wasn't bad coaching or bad reps. It was the slow erosion of belief that came from a constant focus on what was wrong. A player who believes he's...

Like a lot of you know, I'm always figuring out what's best for the hitter. Some need to rotate more. Some need to rotate less. For some, it depends on the week. So I built both. Like I do for every hitter I coach. Now you pick. Need to rotate more? The Rotate Better, Swing Shorter Hitting Program Use the ground and turn behind the ball. 👉 https://treyhannamtraining.mykajabi.com/rotation-power-program Need to rotate less? The Stop Spinning, Stay Through the Ball Hitting Program Stay closed...

A 90 mph fastball gets to the plate in 0.4 seconds. Josh was bringing 5 swing thoughts with him. He’s a sophomore in Remote Results. In the cage he hits like Tarzan. In games he hits like Jane. This week I posted a graphic. The average hitter carries 8 thoughts: grip, stance, hands, Dad’s tip, coach’s tip, don’t pull off, be ready, hunt your pitch. The elite hitter focuses on the last 2. (The first 6 are real. I coach every one. They just live in the cage.) Here’s the split I gave Josh. Cage:...

Here are the 20+ questions I get asked the most by hitters and parents, each one answered in a 1-2 minute video. Questions like:- 'How to Become an Elite + Consistent HItter'- 'How to Not be Front Side Dominant'- (Most viewed video) 'How to Keep Barrel High and Inside, No Drop' I sent this to my paid hitting coach group first, and many of them replied privately saying holy cow thank you. So now any time a hitter or parent asks me one of these, I just send the link to the exact video. Now you...

Starting tomorrow, I'm paying my Remote Results hitters to get better. $1 a day. Every month. To complete the consistency challenge. It's called the Consistent Habits Challenge. Here's how it works: Every day, you do one thing that makes you better. Hit, lift, throw, stretch, read a book, journal. It doesn't have to be a huge session. It just has to be something. Then you open the app, send me a message on what you worked on, and hit 'Complete' in the challenge for that day. Log it the same...

Every hitter I train in Remote Results gets this exact video during their onboarding. Here's why. Golfers are obsessed with camera angles. They only film from two exact spots, every time. Move the phone a foot and the same swing looks totally different. Hitting's the same. But nobody teaches hitters how to film. If your angle changes every week, I'm comparing camera spots, not swings. And I end up fixing stuff that isn't broken. Same angle every time is the only way to see real progress. Here...

The question I get more than any other: How do I fix throwing or pushing my hands? It's the lack of body rotation almost every time. Hitter slides forward instead of turning, the hips stop early, and the hands take over to save the swing. Parents ask me for a fix. Hitters ask me for a fix. Coaches ask me for a fix. So I built it. It's called The Rotation + Power Program. I made it with Donnie Ecker, who was Baseball America's MLB Coach of the Year in 2021 and is the bench coach in Baltimore...

When I'm training hitters, I'm always calculating one thing in my head. What's the simplest adjustment that will make the biggest impact? I tell hitters that when I'm staring into space, I'm computing.. haha. "If I say this, he'll do this." "I can't say this because he doesn't like it, or it didn't work for him." "If I say this, he'll overthink it, so I have to work around that idea." I do the calculating so you don't have to. To a certain extent though, right? There's a time and place for...

Pete Crow-Armstrong said something that should make a lot of hitters think.. In an interview weeks ago, he admitted it. Any time he struggled, he’d try to hit more. More cage time. More swings. More effort. HARDER. MORE. Now he’s trying to do less. Calm. Routine. Process. That’s the part most hitters will scroll past. Because it sounds backwards. But it’s the exact thing I’ve watched with my own guys for years. The hardest workers don’t always get the best results. Sometimes the guy who seems...

Pulling off is one of the top 3 things I help fix with hitters. Check out my new Youtube video on how I've helped improve that issue. Simple 3 step system, easy -> medium -> advanced Save the video for when you need it.Send this to a hitter who needs it. Have a Youtube video request? Reply to this and let me know.
